After losing quick wickets, the two-time winners relied on power-hitter Andre Russell to score runs, but the Caribbean again let his side down. Russell started well but fell prey to Mayank Markande after gathering 24(15), which included two sixes and a solitary four.

Meanwhile, Mayank garnered praise after the dismissal. The fans and cricket experts took to social media to hail Markande for sticking to his plans despite getting hit for a six on the previous ball.

Notably, Russell hit Markande for a six on the 1st ball of the 15th ball, which was a flighted one. The 25-year-old stuck to his plans and bowled another flighted delivery that got him Russell’s wicket.

Ravi Shastri, who was on the air, praised Mayank and remarked that yesteryears spinners like Bishan Singh Bedi would have loved that wicket.

“The masters of yesteryears, Bishan Singh (Bedi), and Erapalli (Prasanna) would’ve loved that,” Shastri said.
