Dhoni’s a king again, Warner on the wane: CSK vs DC Player Ratings 

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 27 runs in match number 55 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday, May 10. Batting first after winning the toss, CSK managed only 167/8 on the board. However, their bowlers did exceptionally well to restrict DC to 140/8. Chennai now have 15 points from 12 games. Here are player battles for CSK vs DC IPL 2023 match 55.

Chennai Super Kings

Ruturaj Gaikwad (5/10): Looked good for his 24 off 18. Hit four fours but could not carry on and was dismissed by Axar Patel.

Devon Conway (3/10): The law of averages caught up with him as he fell cheaply for a change. Was trapped lbw by Axar Patel for 10 off 13 balls.

Ajinkya Rahane (7/10): Played a breezy cameo of 21 in 20 balls, striking two fours. Gave a return catch to Lalit Yadav. Was sharp in the field. Ran out Mitchell Marsh and took the catches to dismiss David Warner and Axar Patel.

Moeen Ali (8/10): Was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav for 7 but excelled with the ball. Did not pick up a wicket but gave away only 16 runs in his four overs.

Ambati Rayudu (5.5/10): Chipped in with 23 off 17 balls, hitting one four and a six. Was dismissed trying to take on Khaleel Ahmed.

Shivam Dube (7/10): Top-scored for CSK with 25 off 12 balls. His knock featured three sixes before he was dismissed by Mitchell Marsh.

Ravindra Jadeja (9/10): Came up with an excellent all-round effort. Contributed 21 off 16 with the bat, which included a six and a four. Was brilliant with the ball. Got the wicket of Rilee Rossouw and ended with figures of 1/19 from four overs.

MS Dhoni (8.5/10): Played a superb cameo. Hammered two sixes and a four in his 20 off only nine balls. His knock gave CSK much-needed momentum.

Deepak Chahar (8/10): Played a crucial role in CSK’s win. Dismissed both of Delhi openers – David Warner and Phil Salt. Ended with figures of 2/28 in three overs. 

Tushar Deshpande (6/10): Bowled three overs for 18 runs without picking up a wicket.

Maheesh Theekshana (4.5/10): Bowled two overs for 16. Did not claim a wicket.

Matheesha Pathirana (9/10): Excelled with the ball once more. Got the wickets of Manish Pandey, Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav.

Delhi Capitals 

David Warner (0/10): Fell for a second-ball duck, chipping a simple catch off Deepak Chahar’s bowling.

Philip Salt (4/10): Hit two fours and a six. Was looking good. However, he fell for 17 off 11, miscuing Deepak Chahar.

Mitchell Marsh (8/10): Was brilliant with the ball. Claimed 3/18, getting the wickets of Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni. Failed with the bat, though, as he was run out for 5 following a mix-up with Manish Pandey.

Rilee Rossouw (7/10): Top-scored for DC with 35 but took 37 balls for his innings. Hit two fours and a six, but Delhi needed him to carry on and accelerate.

Axar Patel (8.5/10): Had another good all-round match. Dismissed CSK’s openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway. Ended with figures of 2/27 from four overs. Contributed 21 off 12 with the ball, smashing two fours and a six.

Ripal Patel (4/10): Was run out by Moeen Ali for 10 off 16 balls.

Lalit Yadav (5/10): Was out for 12 off 5 balls, hitting three fours.

Kuldeep Yadav (7/10): Got the wicket of Moeen Ali. Ended with economical figures of 1/28.

Khaleel Ahmed (6/10): Claimed the wicket of Ambati Rayudu. Was taken apart by MS Dhoni at the death. Finished with figures of 1/32.

Ishant Sharma (3/10): Bowled two overs for 23. Did not claim a wicket.
