Defending champions Gujarat Titans strengthened their grip in the IPL 2023 with a crushing victory over the Rajasthan Royals. After folding the Rajasthan side at 118, GT won by 9 wickets in 13.5 overs. Former Australia speedster Shaun Tait lauded GT skipper for his remarkable performance on the field.
Tait believes that Hardik’s performance could be a statement as he smashed 39* off 15 balls to get GT over the line. He said they could have taken a lighter route to victory but Hardik’s quick-fire innings finished the game even before 15 overs.
“What Hardik did was kind of a statement I suppose. Certainly, he could have come in and nudged them around and gotten them over the line in the 19th over. I liked the way he went about in the chase,” said Tait.
Tait also claimed that playing with the same Playing XI is a good sign.
“It’s a good sign when you’re not changing your squad too often. When Mumbai won trophies, they didn’t change their side. They kept it simple. Guys bowling in the same areas and changing the batting order when needed. Chennai have the same style and GT are on the same track,” added Tait.
