Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets in match number 46 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on Wednesday, May 3. Sent into bat after losing the toss, Punjab put up an impressive total of 214/3 in their 20 overs. Mumbai, however, chased down the target in 18.5 overs. Ishan Kishan (9.5/10): Took the catch to dismissPrabhsimran Singh. Effected the stumping of Shikhar Dhawan. With the bat, slammed a match-winning 75 off 41 balls. Hit seven fours and four sixes in his fantastic innings to be named Player of the Match.
Cameron Green (5/10): Bowled two overs for 15 runs and did not claim a wicket. Scored 23 off 18 with the bat, hitting four fours. Mistimed a short ball off Nathan Ellis to be caught at deep midwicket.
Suryakumar Yadav (9/10): Played a brilliant knock of 66 in 31 balls. Struck eight fours and two sixes and in the company of Ishan Kishan to put Mumbai Indians in a commanding position.
Tilak Varma (7/10): Returned unbeaten on 26 off 10 balls. Hit the match-winning six.
Tim David (6/10): Remained unbeaten on 19 off 10, playing another handy cameo as finisher.
Jofra Archer (1/10): Was extremely expensive with the ball. Failed to get his line and length right. Was clobbered for 56 runs in his four overs.
Piyush Chawla (8/10): Was outstanding with the ball again. Beat Shikhar Dhawan, who charged down the track and had him stumped. Bamboozled Matthew Short with a googly and had him bowled.
Kumar Kartikeya (5/10): Bowled three overs for 24. Did not claim a wicket.
Akash Madhwal (3/10): Bowled three overs and was taken for 37 runs. Failed to claim a wicket.
Arshad Khan (3/10): Got the wicket of Prabhsimran Singh early in the innings but proved expensive overall. Conceded 48 runs in his four overs.
Punjab Kings
Prabhsimran Singh (3/10): Was out for 9 off 7, caught behind off Arshad Khan.
Shikhar Dhawan (6/10): Looked good during his stay. Struck a quick 30 with the help of five fours before being foxed by Piyush Chawla and stumped.
Matthew Short (5/10): Scored 27 off 26. Hit two fours and a six. Missed a wrong’un from Piyush Chawla and was cleaned up.
Liam Livingstone (9/10): Played a brilliant knock of 82 not out in only 42 balls. Slammed seven fours and four sixes to lift Punjab Kings to a big total. Was just the kind of aggressive knock Punjab Kings expected from him.
Jitesh Sharma (8/10): Played yet another impressive knock with the bat. Slammed an unbeaten 49 off only 27 balls, striking five fours and two sixes. Featured in a terrific 119-run unbeaten stand with Liam Livingstone.
Sam Curran (3/10): Failed to deliver with the ball. Went for 41 runs in three overs without claiming a wicket.
Harpreet Brar (4/10): Bowled two overs for 21 runs in which he went wicketless.
Rishi Dhawan (7/10): Got the early wicket of Rohit Sharma for a duck. Ended with decent figures of 1/20 from three overs.
Rahul Chahar (3/10): Failed to impress again. Registered figures of 0/30 in three overs.
Arshdeep Singh (1.5/10): Was extremely expensive. Conceded 66 runs in 3.5 overs. Got the wicket of Ishan Kishan, but only after being clobbered all around the park.
Nathan Ellis (8/10): Was Punjab Kings’ best bowler of the day. Dismissed Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav to finish with figures of 2/34.
