Mitchell Marsh, after Delhi Capitals’ narrow loss to SRH, stated, “Disappointed to lose, but we have great faith in the group.”

On Saturday, April 29, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the Delhi Capitals were defeated by Sunrisers Hyderabad by nine runs. In IPL 2023 Match 40, chasing a target of 198, Delhi Capitals came near but fall short by nine runs.

Mitchell Marsh, who had a remarkable all-round performance with 4/27 with the ball and 63 runs off 39 deliveries with the bat, said of the match, “It was very disappointing to lose. We always talk about small margins in T20 cricket, and there were definitely a few areas where we fell short, but we’re still very proud of the team and have a lot of faith in them.”

Regarding his personal performance, the Australian all-rounder stated, “I strive to keep my bowling very straightforward. I am very aware of my function. I attempt to exploit the wicket with my cutters and slow deliveries. In T20 cricket, a little bit of luck is always required, particularly in my position. However, the pleasant reward for a bit of effort.”

It was a wonderful collaboration with Phil. I enjoyed batting with him for the first time. Throughout this tournament, we’ve occasionally lost early wickets, so it was good that we were able to establish a platform, but we were unable to carry us to victory. But, to be able to contribute with the bat was very satisfying, and hopefully I can contribute to a few more victories,” Marsh said, adding that he and Phil Salt forged a sturdy partnership of 112 runs.

Marsh, reflecting on the overall campaign to date, stated, “It’s been very difficult. I believe that everyone is dissatisfied with how things have unfolded thus far. However, we have a large number of inexperienced players gaining valuable experience by competing at this level, which bodes well for Delhi’s future.”

“We are still alive in the tournament, but we will need to perform exceptionally well in the coming weeks. “It still exists, and we have great faith in the group’s ability to achieve it,” he concluded.
