During the recent edition of PSL, former Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir hogged the internet after he made a controversial remark about Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.
Notably, ahead of Karachi Kings vs Peshawar Zalmi game, Amir had compared Babar Azam to a tailender, which angered Babar’s fans.
“These matches entertain the fans and keep the players on their toes. I love these challenges, and facing Babar or a tailender batting at number 10 or 11 is the same,” remarked Amir ahead of the PSL clash.
Following the remarks, Amir faced heavy criticism, and the two Pakistani greats even had a moment on the pitch as Amir angrily threw a ball towards Babar.
However, in the latest development, Amir has issued a clarification over his earlier remark and regarded Babar Azam as the best batter in the world. The former seamer accused the media of interpreting his statement and stated that he holds high regard for Babar.
“I would like to challenge the ones who have misinterpreted my statement to show me one interview in which I said Babar is a tailender. In all the interviews, I have regarded him as the best batter in Pakistan and one of the toughest batters to bowl in the Tests and ODIs.”
“My point was whether it is Babar or any tailender, every wicket is important to me, irrespective of the batter.”
