SRH vs. LSG: Sunrisers fans chant “Kohli, Kohli” and purportedly throw an object at the LSG dugout after a controversy involving a no-ball; video goes viral

In the nineteenth over of the ongoing IPL 2023 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants, a major controversy erupted when Avesh Khan delivered a full-toss above Abdul Samad’s waist and the on-field umpires ruled it a no-ball. However, LSG captain Krunal Pandya contested the decision and requested a DRS review. However, despite the fact that it was observed that the ball was indeed above Samad’s midsection, the third umpire reversed the initial decision and voided the no-ball.

This made Heinrich Klaasen enraged, as he was observed conversing with the third umpire for a considerable amount of time. However, the umpire appeared confused as he had no choice but to comply with the instruction. Following the incident, Twitter was abuzz with criticism of the third umpire’s decision against the Aiden Markram-led team.

The SRH supporters at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad immediately began chanting “Kohli, Kohli,” and the game was suspended for a few minutes.
Interestingly, the controversy did not end there. In the final over of their innings, SRH lost another such decision. Even though the ball was observed well above Samad’s head, neither the umpire nor the third umpire called wide, which once again perplexed the players on the field and the fans on social media platforms.

During their first innings, the host team scored 182 runs despite losing six wickets. Prabhsimran Singh got SRH off to a great start with 36 runs off 27 balls, while Rahul Tripathi (20 runs off 13 balls) and Aiden Markram (28 runs off 20 balls) contributed well in the middle, but SRH needed a massive finale to post a healthy total.

South African international Heinrich Klaasen then played a magnificent innings to rescue SRH from a precarious situation. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored 47 runs off of only 29 deliveries, while Abdul Samad scored 37* runs off of 25 deliveries. SRH posted 182 runs on the board courtesy of their impressive performances and will hope that their bowlers can successfully defend the total.
