Virat Kohli makes a shocking confession

Virat Kohli, the former captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and one of the most accomplished cricketers in the world, has recently shared an intimate conversation about his personal life. In a discussion with Robin Uthappa on JioCinema, Kohli revealed how his wife, Anushka Sharma, helped him navigate through a tough phase in his career.

Last year, during this time, Kohli was going through a lean patch in his cricketing career. He was struggling to score runs and was under immense public pressure. However, a six-week break after the conclusion of India’s tour of England helped him find his rhythm back. In the conversation with Uthappa, Kohli spoke about the period before the break, which wasn’t easy for him.

Kohli credited Anushka for keeping him grounded and helping him handle public pressure. He highlighted that Anushka has been in the same position and knows the challenges of being there. Her conversations with him have always been priceless as she always tells him the truth. Kohli admitted that without Anushka’s guidance, he would have gone into a different zone, becoming an ‘egoistic maniac’.

Kohli also shared that Anushka does not mollycoddle him and always keeps him in check. She brings him down to the base level where two people should be at the same level, to be normal, to grow together. Kohli further said that if he was left by himself just to figure it out, he would have become snappier and even cranky.

Kohli’s words highlight the importance of having a support system, especially during tough times. The pressure of being a public figure can be overwhelming, and having someone who understands the challenges and can provide genuine guidance can be invaluable.

In Kohli’s case, his wife’s support helped him overcome a difficult phase and get back to performing at his best. It is heartening to see a successful couple like Kohli and Anushka supporting each other through thick and thin, and their relationship serves as an inspiration to many.

He is playing for RCB in the Indian Premier League 2023.
