Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir took over the internet after the two had an ugly altercation following RCB’s win over Lucknow Super Giants.
After the Challengers’ 18-run win over LSG, Virat Kohli was aggressive during the match and had a conversation with Kyle Mayers, which was followed by Gautam Gambhir pulling Mayers away. In return, Virat passed a remark to Gambhir and the duo engaged in a war of words.
Things turned ugly between the two as Virat and Gautam had to be separated by the players of both teams. Besides Gambhir, Kohli also had altercations with Naveen-ul-Haq and Amit Mishra.
In the last 24 hours, there have been several speculations over what happened between Virat and Gambhir. In the latest development, an eyewitness from yesterday’s game had a conversation with PTI, where he revealed the flow of the conversation.
“Mayers and Virat were talking when Kyle asked Kohli why was he abusing so much during the game. In return, Virat stated that LSG players were staring at him. Also, Amit Mishra had complained to the umpire that Virat was abusing Naveen-ul-Haq a lot,” said the eyewitness.
“Gautam saw that things can get ugly, so he pulled Mayers away from the conversation, and Virat made a passing remark. Gambhir replied, ‘Kya bol raha hain bol’ (What were you saying?). Virat said, ‘Maine aapko kuch bola hi nahi, aap kyon ghus rahein ho?’ (Why are you coming in between when I haven’t told you anything.”
“Gautam responded, ‘Tuney agar mere player ko bola hai, matlab tune meri family ko gaali diya hai. (You abused my player and that’s like abusing my family) and Virat’s reply was, ‘Toh aap apne family ko sambhal ke rakhiye‘. (Then you take care of your family).
“Gambhir’s final reply before they were separated was, ‘Toh ab tu mujhe sikhayega…’ (So now I have to learn from you).”
Notably, after the altercation, both Virat and Gautam were fined 100% of their match fees.
