Varun Chakravarthy shone with the ball and picked up a three-wicket haul, but keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz also played a vital role in restricting PBKS to a below-par score as the 21-year-old took four brilliant catches in the match.
Out of the four dismissals, Gurbaz hogged the internet after he recreated MS Dhoni’s classic catch from IPL 2020. On the last ball of the 2nd over, Prabhsimran Singh nicked a delivery by Harshit Rana, which Gurbaz fumbled on the first attempt, but covered good ground to catch the ball on the second attempt. After Gurbaz’s wicket, the fans soon took to social media platforms to point out the similarities between Gurbaz and Dhoni’s catch, which the CSK skipper took in 2020 against KKR, when Dhoni fumbled a big outside edge by Shivam Mavi at first but then took a stunning diving catch. Despite being great with gloves, Gurbaz had a dismal time with the bat against PBKS, as he scored just 15(12), which included a four and a six.
